CCC Model RS Safety Stop Control

Overview

The Model RS Cable-Operated Safety Stop Control, aka Pull Cord Safety Stop Switch, or Rope Pull Cord Switch, provides both the immediate shutdown of conveyors and machinery and sends a signal to an alarm when its cable is pulled due to an operational issue or by an endangered worker. This safety stop switch is recommended by ANSI for the safe operation of conveyors, production lines, elevator equipment, assembly lines, material handling systems, cranes, and similar equipment where systems, machinery, or employee protection is required. Note: most states require this type of safety control on conveyors.

NEED TO KNOW
The RS Stop Control is designed so that a maximum of 100' (30m) of cable can be used on each side of the Switch. A single control, therefore, covers a maximum of 200' of conveyor belt or other machinery. If necessary, cable can be extended in one direction only from either side of RS Switch. The application’s electrical characteristics determine the type of microswitches to be specified in the control. Environmental considerations determine if the RS Control needs to be explosion-proof or requires an available epoxy coating
Our galvanized aircraft cable with either vinyl or nylon coating should be used with the control to assure proper actuation with no stretching. The cable should be supported by eyebolts every 8' to 10' (3m). These supports ensure that the weight of the cable alone will not actuate the Control. An optional red incandescent light (standard or LED) is available for dark or remote locations.
