AIRMATIC Is Your Distributor for Stephens-Adamson Replacement Products

Stephens-Adamson no longer manufactures its former lines of conveyor idlers, holdbacks, or hoods and covers. AIRMATIC, as a former Stephens-Adamson distributor, continues to support customers with equivalent replacement products from qualified manufacturers based on the original Stephens-Adamson model, dimensions, operating requirements, and application. Our history with Stephens-Adamson equipment enables us to help customers identify suitable replacements for existing conveyor systems without unnecessarily redesigning or modifying the installation.

If you're searching for a Stephens-Adamson distributor or a source for replacement components, AIRMATIC can help. We stock many equivalent replacement products, offer competitive pricing, and can confirm availability before you place an order.

About Stephens-Adamson

Stephens-Adamson was founded in 1901 in Aurora, Illinois, by W.W. Stephens and F.G. Adamson, producing belt conveyor elevators, screens, and power transmission equipment. In 1911, the company introduced its first anti-friction conveyor idler, helping establish a design standard for the belt conveyor industry. After several ownership changes, Stephens-Adamson became part of Metso Minerals in 2001, but the Stephens-Adamson name remains familiar to engineers and maintenance teams working with legacy conveyor equipment. Sealmaster, although originally established as a Stephens-Adamson product line in Aurora in 1938, later developed into a separate brand and should not be confused with Stephens-Adamson conveyor products.

Stephens-Adamson Products

AIRMATIC carried three Stephens-Adamson product families under Belt Conveyor Components, built to work as a system rather than as three unrelated parts: idlers support and align the belt, holdbacks stop it from running backward on an incline, and hoods and covers keep weather and contamination off the belt and whatever it's carrying.

Conveyor Idlers (CEMA B-E)

Stephens-Adamson manufactured a broad range of belt conveyor idlers for carrying and return applications across CEMA B, C, D, and E classifications. Carrying idlers were offered in configurations including inline and offset troughing, impact, picking-table, and training designs, while return options included steel, rubber-disc, V-return, and self-training designs. Stephens-Adamson also offered specialty idler configurations, including garland, wire-rope, adjustable, inset-frame, and flatbelt designs for specific conveyor applications.

Holdbacks & Backstops

Stephens-Adamson manufactured holdbacks, also known as backstops, for inclined belt conveyors, bucket elevators, and similar equipment. Its product line included the Torque-Master and ND Series designs, engineered to prevent reverse rotation and uncontrolled rollback of loaded equipment. Torque-Master holdbacks used an enclosed roller-wedge design that engaged when reverse motion began, helping protect against personnel injury, flooded feed points, and equipment damage.

Hoods & Covers

Stephens-Adamson manufactured weather-tight conveyor hoods and covers in galvanized steel and aluminum to protect conveyor belts, idlers, and conveyed material from the elements. The hinged enclosures helped protect belts from sun exposure, prevent belts and idler rollers from freezing, and reduce material loss caused by wind and rain, while allowing access from either side for inspection and maintenance.

Nationwide Delivery and Technical Support

Stephens-Adamson replacement parts ship nationwide through AIRMATIC's warehousing network, with lead times built around keeping conveyors running rather than waiting on a manufacturer backorder. If you're not sure which part you need, AIRMATIC can cross-reference legacy Stephens-Adamson model and part numbers against current replacements, and our Belt Conveyor Specialists are available to confirm fit before you order.

AIRMATIC's Commitment to Quality and Performance

As a former Stephens-Adamson distributor, AIRMATIC has the product knowledge and application experience to help customers replace legacy Stephens-Adamson equipment. We partner with qualified manufacturers to source equivalent replacements and provide selection assistance, availability support, and service throughout the process.
